Our compact sedan, the A3, has a new sport-tuned sibling this year. Known as the Audi S3, this high-octane hauler is bound to turn its fair share of heads.

 

What exactly does this top-shelf transport bring to the table, though? Tag along with AutoGuide.com Associate Editor, Craig Cole, as he provides the full scoop:

True to form, Audi turned out one altogether exceptional engine for the S3. Synced to a six-speed automated manual transmission, this turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder churns out a colossal 292 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.

While all-wheel drive systems are pretty good at keeping your car in control during inclement weather, luxury AWD platforms to make driving through nasty road conditions like piloting a hot knife through butter. Near the top of the pack is the Audi Quattro system, which has faithfully served the brand for 35 years.

In 2018, Audi will roll out one of its most ground-breaking models yet. The concept for this e-tron Quattro electric crossover includes a bunch of visual and performance enhancements, like an aerodynamically optimized external design, as well as three electric motors that will allow it to achieve 496 horsepower.
